Tuck Shop is available after school
on Wednesday and Friday.

Daily snack is available to purchase every day at break time. Snack can be purchased at morning break. Children welcome to bring their own snack from home.


Reading Books

Reading Books will usually be changed Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Please read with your child every night and sign their reading record.

You have been given a Knowledge Organiser and Homework Grid with some tasks relating to our topic.

Autumn 1:

Born Free, Why Capture Me?

This half term our topic is Born Free, Why Capture Me? We will look and non fiction text features and use these to help us write our own reports on animals including expanded noun phrases and similes. We will also look at animals in zoos and circuses, debate on weather they should be in captivity or not and create our own story ending based off the story “The Circus Ship”.

Autumn 2:

How is Life Different in Mexico?

This half term our topic is How is Life Different in Mexico? We will be exploring the geography of Mexico and comparing it to the United Kingdom before looking closer at a small town called Tocuaro and comparing it to our town of Warrington. We will look into some exciting culture of Mexico including finding out all about the Day of the Dead and creating invites to a Day of the Dead party. We will also be using the film Coco to inspire some of out work. Finally, we will be creating out own brochures to encourage people to visit Mexico using all of the interesting information we have learnt.

Spring 1:

The Ancient Egyptians

This term, Year 3/4 are diving into the fascinating world of Ancient Egypt! From the mighty River Nile to the towering pyramids, we’re uncovering the secrets of one of history’s most extraordinary civilisations. We’re exploring Egyptian life, their beliefs about the afterlife, and the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb. Inspired by myths and hieroglyphs, we’ll write our own story about a child who sneaks into a pyramid and uncovers hidden treasures and mysteries. Through creativity and curiosity, we’re bringing Ancient Egypt to life!

Spring 2:

Michael Morpurgo: Sea Stories

This term, Year 3/4 are diving into the magical world of Michael Morpurgo’s sea stories! We’re starting with Can You Catch a Mermaid, summarising the tale and writing letters in character. Next, we’ll explore Dolphin Boy, discovering adventurous writing features and creating our own exciting endings. Finally, inspired by the stories we’ve read, we’ll write our own sea-themed adventures, using our imaginations to bring the wonders of the ocean to life!

Summer 1:

The Tudor Explorers

This term, Year 3/4 are embarking on an exciting journey to explore the daring voyages of Tudor explorers! We’ll uncover the adventures of famous figures like Sir Francis Drake and Sir Walter Raleigh, learning about their discoveries, life at sea, and how their explorations changed the world. Through creative writing, we’ll imagine life aboard a Tudor ship, writing diaries and letters as if we were part of the crew. Our work will bring the age of exploration to life, filled with adventure, courage, and curiosity!

This term, Year 3/4 are exploring the fascinating world of water and weather. We’ll learn about the water cycle and how it keeps water moving around our planet. We’ll also study different types of weather and climates across the world, from tropical areas to icy polar regions. We’ll investigate extreme weather, such as hurricanes, floods, and droughts, and explore how these events impact people, communities, and the environment. Through maps, discussions, and activities, we’ll discover how weather shapes the way we live and why it’s so important to understand our changing world.
