Snack Money
Tuck Shop is available after school
on Wednesday and Friday.
Daily healthy snack is available to purchase every day at break time. Snack can be purchased at morning break. The maximum amount snack will cost is £2 a week. Children welcome to bring their own snack from home.
Reading Books
Reading Books will usually be changed Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Please read with your child every night and sign their reading record.

Overview
Autumn 1:
From Africa to the Arctics - part 1 Africa
This half term’s topic will have a geography focus where we will be looking at the continent of Africa. We will be focusing what it is like to live in Africa and comparing it to what it is like to live in the UK. Each week’s work will be based on a different aspects of learning. The areas being covered are African animals, environmental issues in some African countries e.g. deforestation, hunting and where chocolate comes from. Alongside this we will also be reading some stories based in Africa and developing our geographical skills such as map reading and using an atlas.

Autumn 2:
From Africa to the Arctics - part 2 The Arctics
This half term’s topic will also have a geography focus where we will be looking at the polar regions - the Arctic and the Antarctic. We will be focusing what it is like in these areas and comparing them to the UK and Africa. Each week’s work will be based on a different aspects of learning. The areas being covered are polar animals, environmental issues in the polar regions e.g. climate change, pollution, explorers and the Inuit communities. Alongside this we will also be reading some stories based in the polar regions and developing our geographical skills such as map reading and using an atlas.
Spring 1:
Is There Anybody Out There?
This half term’s topic has science focus where we will learn about outer space. We will look at the different planets in the solar system as well and thinking about aliens and whether they really exist!! We will look at the different astronauts who dared to go into space and land on the moon. Throughout the topic we will learn about the relationship between the sun, moon and earth. Alongside this we will be reading some stories based in space with some very funny characters!
Spring 2:
It’s all about reading this half term! We will be reading lots of different books by the amazing author Oliver Jeffers. Each week we will focus on a different text, thinking about the main characters, the setting and the key points of the story. We will write about the story thinking about how the characters would feel and how they would act.
Summer 1:
This half term’s topic has a history focus where we will be looking at how transport has changed over time. Each week we will look at a different mode of transport, reading and writing about it and comparing it now to how it was in the past. Alongside this we will also be reading some stories based on transport and developing some historical themes e.g. chronological order, primary and secondary evidence. We will also be travelling by train, tram and bus, developing our life skills as well as finding out where we can travel to.
Summer 2:
We’re back to geography again this half term with our topic on coasts and rivers. Together we will look at different rivers all around the world, where they start and where they end. We will look at the human and physical features you would see at the coast. As with all our topics great emphasis will be placed on the key vocabulary associated with this topic.
