Heartful Minds: Building Worlds, Growing Creativity!

On Friday 12th July, it was Malala Yousafzai’s birthday – she was 27 and because Malala is one of our houses, our Captains organised a special event! MATHS IS FUN
Fifteen of our marvellous mathematicians had a great time in Amethyst Class on Wednesday taking part in a Fun Maths Day. We solved number problems, completed puzzles and played games which involved lots of calculations and teamwork. Miss Muia said that she was very lucky to have such a bunch of talented and enthusiastic mathematicians, some of whom would like to be a Maths Champion next year!
St Rocco’s Hospice Walk
Yesterday, everyone took part in our sponsored walk to raise money for St Rocco’s Hospice. It was a warm day but we didn’t let it stop us! As part of our new education package, we're delivering engaging content to schools. Using the power of the badge, we're helping to educate the next generation of kids on important topics. David Attenborough's Birthday
On Wednesday 8th May it was David Attenborough's Birthday, to celebrate we asked the children to design an animal headdress or mask. Children were also invited to come to school dressed in blue for £1 which will be donated to the Warrington Animal Welfare charity. World Down Syndrome Day
We celebrated World Down Syndrome Day with a visit from Cheshire Down Syndrome support group. The children and staff all purchased a gingerbread sock biscuit produced by the community. We also wore different socks to show that although we are all different we are all the same. The children have supported this charity for 12 years now and we are so grateful for all of your support. World Book Day
We celebrated World Book Day on Tuesday 5th March 2024. We invited the children to dress up in their pyjamas as part of our ‘Share a Bedtime Story’ theme. And also asked the children to bring their favourite book into school, to share with others. Spelling Bee
This week we held our very own Spelling Bee competition for the children from Year 2 to Year 6 to find the best spellers from Attenborough, Elton, Malala and Rosa house. For the past few weeks, the children have been working hard in class to practice the very tricky statutory spellings. The best spellers from each year group then went head-to-head in our Spelling Bee Final.
Rosa Day
Happy birthday Rosa! she would have been 111 on Sunday 4 th February. To celebrate, the children were invited to come to school today dressed in green as this is the colour of our Rosa house. They also enjoyed lots of green themed activities and lunchtime treats!
Book Fair 2024
At the Book Fair there are a fantastic range of books available to buy at discounted prices and school are able to purchase books based on the amount we make from the sales too. A huge thank you to anyone that purchased a book, it has meant that we can choose some lovely books for the children to enjoy in school. Bikeability 2024
Year 5 and 6 took part in their cycle training this week from Bikeright! They were all brilliant with their instructors when riding around the local area, making us all very proud. BikeRight work with Warrington Borough Council to provide free cycling courses to all of our Year 5 and 6 pupils. This year, 18 pupils participated, learning to ride safety on their local roads.
Grinch Day 2023
Today we had a very special visitor … the Grinch!!! He visited each classroom with the intention of destroying the Christmas spirit, but even this most un-merry of creatures found love in his heart after a day at Bewsey Lodge. The Children enjoyed Grinch juice and cookies whilst watching the film.
Christmas Card Winners 2023
The Christmas card design competition was organised by Attenborough House. the Children were invited to design a Christmas card which would then be printed and sent out as our official school card. We sent one to all of our friends including Governors and the Mayor of Warrington. Out of many entries, the House Captains chose a winner and also a 2 nd and 3 rd place: 1 st place: Brooke, Y4 2 nd
Christmas Cake-Bake-Off! 2023
The School Council organised this Christmas-themed event which invited children to make and bake a Christmassy cake! We had tons of entries and all of them were amazingly delicious. All cakes and biscuits were sold at the end of the day to raise money for school fund. Well done to everyone who took part. Click here to see who won on our School council page.
Choir News
The choir have been very busy this last week or so with performances at the Golden Square, St. Rocco’s and St. Elphin’s. They performed and behaved beautifully at these events making Mrs Stuart very proud of them. They are looking forward to performing again on Saturday evening at the Parr Hall with Warrington Concert Band!
Children in Need 2023
On Friday 17th November 2023 school was filled with lots of spots in celebration of Children in need. Everyone looked fab; we had a lovely mix of gorgeous, fluffy outfits and snazzy t-shirts and headgear bought from shops and also lots of homemade outfits which are amazing! The total we raised was a huge £224.75!!!
A Star For Christmas Competition 2023
In December, the Malala Captains launched their first competition of the year. Children were invited to design and make a star to help make our entrance hall look Christmassy and bright! We had lots of wonderful entries; they were so good that we decided to give everyone a prize however, after much deliberation, the Captains decided that their most favourite entry was from one of our Year
