Autumn 1; Where does chocolate come from?
An overview;
We kick start our learning in Sapphire Class with an exciting geography based topic. During the first four weeks of this term we are delving straight into our map work looking at different climates across the globe, identifying continents, countries, cities to give us some context before delving into our location specific study of Africa - specifically, Ghana. We will be making key comparisons in all elements of life, and discovering exactly why this is the place where two thirds of the worlds chocolate is grown here. We will be looking at exactly how the chocolate is made, and investigating how Fair-trade plays a vital role. There may even be some chocolate tasting along the way!
Towards the end of the half term we come away from our class topic to focus on a KS2 themed week on Orienteering - where hopefully we can put lots of our map work and skills to the test, before getting our thinking caps on for what our futures could hold in our Aspirations Week. It looks to be a busy term with lots of new learning - I cant wait to get going!
